Why we’re building Hoopla.
Help at home today is local, small-scale and scattered. Well meant, but hard to keep up when more is needed.
The idea
Two things that belong together.
Strip it back and help at home comes down to two things. The social side: family, friends and neighbours who drop by and show they care. And the everyday things: shopping, lifts, a job around the house, the garden.
Existing solutions tackle one or the other. There are apps that build a social circle, and services that send paid helpers. Nobody brought them together around the same person.
That’s what we do: one simple app that sorts the whole picture, free for the circle. And because everything runs through the app rather than an agency, it can grow: from one family circle to a network of neighbourhoods.

Where we’re heading
First the circle, then the neighbourhood.
We start with what’s here now, and build on what people really use.
- NowCircles, buddies and stand-ins together in one app.
- NextAn even better Guide to benefits, housing and money.
- LaterMore stand-ins, in more neighbourhoods.
What we expand depends on what people use and what they tell us. If something doesn’t catch on, we roll it back.
