For family caregivers

Looking after your mum or dad, together with others.

You keep track, the rest of the circle pitches in. That way it stays manageable, alongside your job and your own family.

The idea

Share the load instead of carrying it all.

Most people around you would gladly do something. What’s missing is one place that shows what needs doing, and when.

In Hoopla you set up one circle around the person who needs help. Family, friends, neighbours and any stand-ins you ask all share the same schedule. You decide who’s in.

  • Free, with no subscription
  • You decide who gets the code and who can join from the map
  • Only circle members see what happens in the circle

Step by step

From scattered messages to one schedule.

Nothing to learn. If you can send a text, you can use Hoopla.

  1. 1Start the circleFive quick steps: who it’s for, where, and what’s needed. You’re the circle manager, so you keep track.
  2. 2Invite your peopleSend a WhatsApp link to brothers, sisters, neighbours and friends. They only see your circle.
  3. 3Set out the tasksWalks, shopping, popping round: once, every week or every other week, with a note where it helps.
  4. 4Watch the schedule fill upPeople tap I’ll do it when they can. You see right away what’s still open, and whoever’s doing it gets a reminder automatically.
  5. 5Top up when you need toSomething left undone, or need some time off? Ask a local buddy, or a stand-in earning a bit on the side, in the same schedule.
  6. 6And if it’s urgent?Pick As soon as possible and your whole circle hears straight away. Whoever can, picks it up.

What you get

Less to juggle.

  • One place for every appointment

No group chat where everything gets lost. Who’s doing what and when is right there in the schedule.

  • Asking gets easier

People see which tasks are open and choose for themselves. You don’t have to keep asking anyone for favours.

  • Talk in one place

The circle chat keeps everything about the circle together, so everyone’s up to date.

  • Help when you’re stuck

The Guide in the app (in Dutch for now) explains the Wmo, the Dutch social support act, carer’s leave and more in plain language, with sources.

Time off

Someone extra, so you get time for yourself.

You can keep going longer if you can let go now and then. Ask a local stand-in to help with the shopping, the garden, a walk or some company. You choose who, when and for how long.

  • Local people aged 18 or over, with an ID check
  • You see the hourly rate up front and pay in the app
  • Help in and around the house, not washing and dressing

Questions

What people often ask us.

Can’t see your question? Ask us in the app via Contact Hoopla.

How much work is it to set up a circle?

A few minutes. Five quick steps set up the circle, and you invite people with a link. Then you set out the first tasks and the schedule fills up with who’s doing what.

What if my family is small?

Then you add people from the neighbourhood. You can invite local buddies, and you decide who gets the circle code and who can join from the map. If you need more, ask a stand-in.

Can I ask someone to help so I get some time off?

Yes. Ask a local stand-in to help with the shopping, the garden, a walk or some company, so you get some time for yourself. You choose who to ask and when; the stand-in sets their own price and hours. Washing and dressing aren’t included, nor are medical tasks.

Can I keep asking the same stand-in?

Yes. If someone suits you, pin them to your circle from their profile. They then appear at the top, with when they’re next coming. The stand-in can always say no.

Can I see if someone really did a task?

The schedule shows who picked up what and what’s been finished. If something doesn’t go as planned, the task opens up again for the rest of the circle.

What if it’s urgent?

Choose As soon as possible when you add a task. Your whole circle hears straight away, and people tap I’ll do it if they can.
